Yes … elastic wear or lack of it, when prescribed, influences your treatment time! Elastics should be worn exactly as the doctor prescribes. If you forget to wear them, do not double up the next day – that won’t make your teeth move any faster and it could make your mouth very sore. Follow the doctor’s instructions and we’ll get the movement we need to help you reach your deband date on time! If your teeth feel a little extra sensitive after an adjustment, don’t be alarmed! For most patients, any pain or discomfort felt after an adjustment is short lived, lasting a few hours to a few days, and can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication. If you take this before the adjustment, you may not experience any discomfort at all. You can also use an oral anesthetic to lightly numb any painful areas of the mouth. Applying a warm compress to the outside of the jaw for ten to fifteen minutes at a time can also help as well as rinsing with warm saltwater several times a day! #sensitiveteeth #pain #discomfort #braces #orthodontistics #bracesbydrruth #drruth #therealorthodontistofnashville
